Glacier wine
Priceless: enjoy it, yes; own it, no!
But what is glacier wine? It is called glacier wine not because it comes from the blocks of ‘eternal’ ice that litter the heights of Grimentz, but because it is grown on the heights of our mountains.
Grown because, according to the tradition of the mountain dwellers of Chandolin and the surrounding area, the grapes and blends produced in the vineyards were then transported to the mountains, where they were preserved in vats that are now a hundred years old and have NEVER been completely empty since they were first installed. In fact, the successive addition of wines to the age-old larch casks that have preserved the rest of the previous wines creates the incomparable aroma and blend that is Glacier wine. This wine exists only here and is produced nowhere else in Switzerland or abroad.
According to local legend, the origin of Glacier wine lies in a hiding place: two sisters jealously guarded a barrel of wine in a local cellar, only to discover it 20 years later, and its sublime taste led to the creation of what is still a tradition today.
